RIP

Something died inside me last night
When I saw human forms spread on the road
Awaiting someone to rescue them
I hoped someone will save them
Hoping and praying, I passed by
I didn't stop, just let them be
But something breathed its last
Apparently it was the poet inside me
Who till sometime back was trying to take birth

  1. The poet doesn't breathe her last, because this is a good poem.
I remembered some poem about driving along a mountain road in the night and the headlights picking up a deer run over by a passing truck and the driver of this car stopping to find the baby in the animal's belly still alive, but he, after a moment of indecision, pushing the dead animal with the live baby in its belly over the ledge so that the road is cleared and made safe for other motorists of the night.

I think it important that you paused a moment on the way and is aware.

Women give family life a thumbs up

In the man’s world, as they call it, it’s a mad race. Once you’re off the bus, it’s tough to get back on it. But unlike her male counterpart, even the most fiercely competitive woman is a mother, a caregiver, first. Driven by this instinct, there are some happy mommies who have said glad goodbyes to full-time jobs so that they could be with their kids. ‘‘I want the best for my son and that includes ‘sanskar’, which only parents can inculcate. Being a perfectionist, I wanted to give 100% to both my family and work. But the two things don’t go together. So, I gave up my career altogether for my top priority, my 12-year-old son,’’ says Dr Anjali Kashyap, a radiologist. Searching for harmony, MBA Monica Shukla feels, ‘‘Balancing home and work is an art that decides our level of happiness. I think I have achieved it to some extent. The moment I first held my bundle of joy, my motherly instinct told me to give her the best. Thank God for a work-from-home opportunity that came my way. Now

Long Night

On an unknown road, in a moonless night I start for home Not sure of reaching my destination As death haunts the place I shudder with fear of unknown But for the light of love I am engulfed in darkness My guiding voice inspires me, Shows me the right way, Makes sure I'm safe And then... It's time to bid good night!

A Woman In Man's World

I was born a woman in a man’s world. But for him, I was not an ordinary woman… I was different. That day when I opened my eyes, his was the first, or perhaps the second, face – I don’t exactly remember – that flashed in front of my eyes. For him, it was love at first sight and the moment he held me in his arms, he gave away his heart to me. I was in such a trance-like state that I could not fathom what was happening around me. But as the time passed, his pure, holy love for me, melted my heart. Within no time, I became his sweetheart, his life. Even the love of his life, his beautiful wife, could not match the spell that I cast on him. Seeing the intensity of his love for me, she never dared to step into our privacy. As years went by, his love for me kept on changing forms. Sometimes he was my friend, at others he was my mentor, my idol. He helped me solve all my “problems”, but most of our time together was spent fighting over silly things. Not even a single peaceful day passed amo
